Key Idea

3. Java

Java एक general-purpose, class-based programming language और software platform ecosystem है।

Remember

Backend Development#

Java backend development में बहुत widely used है।

Enterprise Applications#

APIs and Microservices#

Desktop Applications#

Java desktop applications

Data Processing and Tools#

Platform Independent Approach#

Object-Oriented Nature#

Key Idea

Static Typing#

Strong Typing#

Type compatibility important

Static typing और strong typing related ideas हैं, लेकिन exactly same concept नहीं हैं।

Automatic Memory Management#

Rich Standard Library#

  • strings
  • collections
  • date and time
  • files
  • networking
  • concurrency
  • mathematical utilities

Mature Ecosystem#

  • libraries
  • frameworks
  • IDEs
  • build tools
  • testing tools
  • monitoring tools
  • documentation
  • developer community

Write Once, Run Anywhere — WORA

  1. Developer Java source code
Visual Diagram80%

Rendering diagram…

Common Mistake

8. Java Source Code#

HelloJava.java

JAVA
public class HelloJava {
    public static void main(String[] args) {
        System.out.println("Hello Java");
    }
}

9. Compilation

HelloJava.java

Successful compilation

HelloJava.class

Flow:

Visual Diagram80%

Rendering diagram…

HelloJava.class JVM-oriented compiled bytecode

10. Java Bytecode

Mental model:

Java Source Code → Bytecode → JVM → Actual Execution

उसी कारण एक compatible .class file अलग-अलग compatible JVM environments में चल सकती है, subject to application dependencies और platform-specific behavior।

Remember

11. JVM क्या है?#

JVM का full form है:

Java Virtual Machine

JVM:

  • Java bytecode load

Visual Diagram80%

Rendering diagram…

12. JDK क्या है?#

JDK का full form है:

Java Development Kit

Development Kit।

  • Java compiler javac
  • Java launcher java
  • Java runtime components
  • standard libraries

Key Idea

JDK = Development tools + runtime capability

Remember

14. JDK vs JVM vs Runtime Environment#

Component Simple Meaning Main Role Developer Perspective
JDK Java Development Kit Java applications develop, compile और run करने के tools Java development के लिए primary toolkit
JVM Java Virtual Machine Bytecode execute करना Java execution engine

Visual Diagram80%

Rendering diagram…

HelloJava.java

Compilation command:

BASH
javac HelloJava.java

HelloJava.class

Conceptually:

javac

source code → bytecode

BASH
java HelloJava

Expected Output#

TEXT
Hello Java

यह output इसलिए आया क्योंकि program में System.out.println("Hello Java"); statement console पर Hello Java print करती है।

अभी public, class, static, void, main या System.out.println() की deep syntax याद करने की जरूरत नहीं है।

17. Complete Java Source-to-Execution Flow#

Visual Diagram80%

Rendering diagram…

Step 1 — .java Source File#

HelloJava.java

Step 2 — Compilation#

javac compiler source code process करता है।

Compiler syntax और relevant compile-time rules check करता है।

Step 3 — .class File#

HelloJava.class

Step 4 — Bytecode#

Step 5 — JVM#

Step 6 — Execution#

JVM और underlying system मिलकर actual program instructions execute करते हैं।

Step 7 — Result#

18. Compilation vs Execution#

Compilation Execution
Typical tool: javac Typical launcher: java
Input: .java source Typical input target: compiled class
Output: normally .class bytecode Result: running program behavior

Simple memory trick:

Compilation = तैयार करना

Execution = चलाना

19. Java Platform

  • Java language
  • JVM execution model
  • Java SE APIs
  • development/runtime tooling provided by JDK implementations

20. Java SE

Java SE का full form है:

Java Platform, Standard Edition

  • language-related core classes
  • collections
  • input/output
  • networking
  • concurrency
  • date and time
  • utilities
  • security-related APIs
  • many other foundational APIs

21. Java Standard Library का high-level overview#

  • date/time manage करना
  • file read/write करना

  • String
  • Math
  • ArrayList
  • LocalDate
  • Files
  • HttpClient

22. API का simple meaning#

API का full form है:

Application Programming Interface

23. Java SE APIs vs JDK-Specific APIs#

Java SE APIs#

Java SE APIs standardized platform APIs

Examples of standard package families include:

  • java.lang
  • java.util
  • java.time
  • java.io
  • java.net

JDK-Specific APIs#

standard Java SE API

JDK/vendor-specific capability

Key Idea

24. Java की Object-Oriented Nature — High-Level Overview#

BankAccount

Detailed topics

  • class
  • object
  • inheritance
  • polymorphism
  • encapsulation
  • abstraction

Remember

25. Strong and Static Typing — High-Level Overview#

JAVA
int age = 25;

Compiler developer

Tip

26. Java Release Evolution — High-Level Awareness#

Figure 1: High-level Java release evolution
High-level Java release evolution1996 — Java 1.01996 — Java 1.02004 — Java 52004 — Java 52014 — Java 82014 — Java 82018 — Java 112018 — Java 112021 — Java 172021 — Java 172023 — Java 212023 — Java 212025 — Java 252025 — Java 252026 — Java 272026 — Java 27

27. Current Java SE Version — Java SE 27#

इस chapter के context में current Java SE release Java SE 27 है।

Java SE 27 modern Java platform evolution

  • variables
  • types
  • control flow
  • methods
  • classes
  • objects
  • collections
  • exceptions
  • core APIs

Java fundamentals versions

Remember

I use Java 27

I understand Java fundamentals

Version environment

Professional learning

strong fundamentals + current ecosystem awareness

Mature Runtime#

Strong Type System#

Large codebases में compile-time type checking कई classes of mistakes जल्दी detect करने में मदद करती है।

Large Ecosystem#

Java ecosystem में frameworks, libraries, testing tools, build systems और monitoring solutions की wide availability है।

Enterprise Adoption#

Backend Framework Ecosystem#

Long-Term Maintainability#

JVM Ecosystem#

Visual Diagram80%

Rendering diagram…

Developer source code

JDK development tools provide

javac source code compile करता है।

Bytecode generate

Write Java source → Compile to bytecode → Execute through JVM

31. Common Beginner Confusions#

JVM compiler

JVM bytecode execute

JDK broader development toolkit

.java और .class file same नहीं हैं#

33. Interview Preparation#

What is Java?Show Answer

Java is a general-purpose, class-based programming language and platform ecosystem. Java source code is typically compiled into bytecode, which can be executed by a compatible Java Virtual Machine. This architecture, together with Java's standard APIs and runtime ecosystem, supports portable and maintainable application development.

Key Points:

  • General-purpose programming language
  • Class-based and object-oriented
  • Compiles to bytecode
  • Bytecode runs through a compatible JVM
  • Rich standard APIs and mature ecosystem

Why interviewer asks this:

The interviewer wants to check whether the candidate understands Java beyond simply calling it a programming language.

Why is Java called platform independent?Show Answer

Java is called platform independent because Java source code is typically compiled into platform-neutral bytecode rather than directly into native code for one operating system. A compatible JVM on the target platform can execute that bytecode.

Key Points:

  • Source code is compiled to bytecode
  • Bytecode is not tied to one operating system in the same way as a native executable
  • Target environment requires a compatible JVM
  • JVM implementation itself is platform-specific

Why interviewer asks this:

The interviewer wants to verify that the candidate understands the actual role of bytecode and JVM instead of repeating the phrase "Write Once, Run Anywhere."

What is the difference between JDK, JVM, and the Java runtime environment?Show Answer

The JDK is the development toolkit used to build Java applications and includes tools such as the Java compiler and launcher. The JVM is the execution engine that runs Java bytecode. The runtime environment refers conceptually to the components required to execute a Java application. In modern Java distributions, runtime packaging may vary by vendor and version.

Key Points:

  • JDK is for development
  • JVM executes bytecode
  • Runtime environment provides execution capability
  • Modern runtime packaging should not always be assumed to be a separate JRE download

Why interviewer asks this:

These terms are fundamental to understanding how Java applications are developed and executed.

What is the difference between javac and java?Show Answer

javac is the Java compiler. It compiles Java source files into bytecode, typically producing .class files. The java launcher starts the Java runtime and launches the specified Java program.

Key Points:

  • javac performs compilation
  • java initiates execution
  • Compilation and execution are separate phases
  • .java source and .class bytecode are different artifacts

Why interviewer asks this:

The interviewer wants to confirm that the candidate understands the basic Java development lifecycle.

What is the difference between Java SE APIs and JDK-specific APIs?Show Answer

Java SE APIs are standardized APIs defined as part of the Java SE platform. JDK-specific APIs are implementation-specific capabilities provided by a particular JDK and may not offer the same portability guarantees across different Java implementations.

Key Points:

  • Java SE APIs are standardized
  • JDK-specific APIs may be implementation-dependent
  • Standard APIs generally provide better portability
  • Implementation-specific dependencies should be deliberate

Why interviewer asks this:

The interviewer wants to check whether the candidate understands portability at the API level, not only at the bytecode level.
